Manage your chemical products, track inventory, and organize your chemical catalog for efficient application tracking and reporting.

Overview

The Chemical Catalog allows you to maintain a database of chemical products, fertilizers, and other materials used in your lawn care operations. Track product details, application rates, and link products to applications and programs.

Getting Started

Before adding products, consider:

  • What products do you use regularly?
  • What information do you need to track (EPA numbers, application rates, etc.)?
  • How do you want to organize products (categories)?
  • Do you need inventory tracking? (see Chemical Inventory)

Creating Products

Step-by-Step: Add a New Product

  1. Navigate to Chemical Catalog in the sidebar

  1. Click "New Product" or the plus icon

  1. Fill in product information:

  • Product Name: Name of the product
  • Manufacturer: Product manufacturer
  • Product Type: Herbicide, Fertilizer, Insecticide, Fungicide, etc.
  • EPA Number: EPA registration number (if applicable)
  • Description: Product description and use
  1. Add application details:

  • Application Rate: Recommended rate per unit
  • Unit of Measure: Ounces, Pounds, Gallons, etc.
  • Coverage Area: Area covered per unit (optional)
  1. Add safety information:

  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS): Link or upload SDS
  • Precautions: Safety precautions and warnings
  • Restrictions: Application restrictions (if any)
  1. Click "Save Product"

Product Information Fields

  • Product Name: Name of product (required)
  • Manufacturer: Company that makes the product
  • Product Type: Category of product
  • EPA Number: EPA registration number
  • Description: What the product does
  • Application Rate: How much to use
  • Unit of Measure: Measurement unit
  • Coverage Area: Area per unit
  • SDS: Safety Data Sheet link/file
  • Precautions: Safety information
  • Restrictions: Usage restrictions

Product Categories

Organize products into categories.

Product Types

  • Herbicide: Weed control products
  • Fertilizer: Nutrient products
  • Insecticide: Insect control products
  • Fungicide: Fungus control products
  • Growth Regulator: Plant growth products
  • Other: Other product types

Organizing Products

  • Use consistent naming conventions
  • Group similar products together
  • Tag products for easy filtering
  • Archive discontinued products

Document recommended application rates:

  • Rate per 1,000 square feet
  • Rate per acre
  • Mixing instructions
  • Timing recommendations

Troubleshooting

Product not appearing in applications

  • Check status: Ensure product is active (not archived)
  • Refresh page: Try refreshing the page
  • Verify product: Check if product is saved correctly
  • Check filters: Ensure filters aren't hiding product

Can't delete product

  • Check usage: Product may be used in existing applications
  • Verify permissions: Only OWNER can typically delete
  • Archive instead: Consider archiving instead of deleting

Product details not saving

  • Check required fields: Ensure all required fields are filled
  • Refresh page: Try refreshing and saving again
  • Verify permissions: Check your role allows product editing

Application rate not calculating

  • Check units: Verify unit of measure is set correctly
  • Review rate: Ensure application rate is entered
  • Check area: Verify coverage area is set if needed
  • Manual entry: Can always enter rate manually in applications
